For me, the best thing about working here is the people
Working in Professional Services
Our professional services departments support our retail, distribution, contact centre and sales teams from our head office in Bristol. They cover a variety of different roles, from Artworkers to Accountants, IT Developers to Buyers.
So, whether you’re an experienced professional looking for your next role or you’re looking for your first step on the career ladder, we can offer you a variety of opportunities to choose from.
Professional Services teams
As the business continues to evolve, the role of our finance team is changing, too. We’re focusing on being more consultative to help drive the business forward, by challenging decisions, identifying risks and developing ways to improve performance.
To support the wider business, we recruit into a number of teams, including quality advice, governance and performance monitoring. With roles ranging from Finance Business Partners and Management Accountants to Credit Controllers and Financial Accountants, we support our people in studying towards professional qualification.
In HR, we support the business by shaping and developing careers, hiring great people and providing training options to our colleagues. We’re also here for every one of our people, managing rewards, payroll and internal communication.
Sitting at the heart of a 24/7 business, our IT teams develop ambitious strategies and provide high quality support to keep Nisbets running smoothly. So we’re always on the lookout for talented Developers, experienced support staff, Project Managers, Business Analysts and Network Administrators.
It’s high profile, varied and challenging work. Whether we’re providing a seamless digital experience for an external customer or developing a hassle-free order-entry experience for our sales teams, the customer’s at the centre of it all. This means we have to be innovative but professional, detail-focused but continuously improving.
We cover a wide variety of legal tasks to support every area of the Nisbets business, which means we offer a uniquely broad range of career opportunities for legal professionals.
If you’re an aspiring or experienced in-house Lawyer, you could be involved in anything from reviewing contracts and advising on disputes, to giving legal updates, supporting projects and building the corporate legal and compliance framework.
Digital is at the forefront of our global drive to continually improve our customers’ experience. Our E-commerce team is at the heart of this, focusing on trading and usability and covering everything from SEO, PPC, Email Marketing, Affiliates and Marketplaces through to new site features and functionality.
To achieve this, we look for specialists in areas such as web development, UX, analytics, design, content, media, merchandising and trading.
Customer Experience, Brand and Marketing
Our marketing team covers everything to do with Nisbets’ brand and our customers. We use data and insight to understand customers, give them an excellent experience, and create communication programmes that grow sales and relationships.
We look for people with experience in areas like data and insight, design and artwork, managing customer propositions, focusing on customer experience and general project management.
Our market leading products are right at the heart of our business, meaning our customers come back time and again. That’s why our five Commercial teams – Tableware and Furniture, Appliances, Cleaning and Consumables, Clothing and Kitchenware and Refrigeration – are so crucial to our business.
Our Category Managers, Buyers and Product Managers work closely with Nisbets teams and a variety of UK and global suppliers to offer customers quality products at the best prices. By managing the supply chain, we also make sure our products are always available.
Training and development
Whichever professional services team you join, we’ll make sure you have all the skills you need to make the most of your potential. From learning on the job alongside experienced colleagues, to classroom-based training and support for studying relevant professional qualifications, we’ll give you every opportunity to develop a rewarding career.
My career story
Nicola Ransome, Category Manager
After moving out of London and leaving the fashion industry, I was looking for something to match my skills. Nisbets were looking for a Clothing and Footwear Buyer, which seemed fairly suitable. Since I joined, the commercial team’s changed a lot, but there’s always been a real sense of teamwork. In buying it’s really important to have a strong and supportive team to get the job done. Nisbets is an ambitious company that’s constantly changing, so there are always challenges. You never know what will happen next and you learn something new every day.
My career story
Ed Ryan, Customer Insight Manager
What attracted me to Nisbets was the passion and ambition in the business, together with the opportunity for growth. The fact that it’s family-owned was attractive, too. What I enjoy most about working here is the fantastic people I work with and their passion for what we do. One of our company values is innovation and you’re given the flexibility and freedom to bring fresh ideas and contribute to the business. There’s also a lot of scope to grow your personal and professional skills. This creates a really good atmosphere.
My career story
Ashara Pervez, IT Development Team Leader
Working in the IT department, no two days are the same - there’s always a system that needs enhancing or fixing. I enjoy the variety of work, from creating a report for an end user to developing and maintaining new and existing systems. You always feel you have made a major impact on the business. It’s also rewarding to receive recognition and opportunities from managers when you have worked hard to get projects completed. It’s a fun place to work in. There’s never a dull day and plenty of work to be done.
