Operations and Distribution

Delivering our customer promise

We’re the engine room of Nisbets, making sure that we meet our promise of next day delivery, every time.

So, if a customer goes to our website, calls the contact centre, or goes into a store or trade counter, it’s our job to make sure they get the product they want, when they want it. It’s a fast-paced and varied part of the business. And with a major change programme in place, it’s an exciting time to join us.

Our work is challenging, because we deal with such a wide range of products – everything from colanders to furniture. And we sell through a variety of channels. So, depending on which of our five UK warehouses you join, you could be helping with customer returns, Amazon dispatches, export orders, fitting out cruise ships, or picking and packing parcels for delivery. And every time, it’s all about getting the right products to the right customers at the right time.

Our operations and distribution roles

Warehouse Colleague

You’ll be involved in everything that goes in and out of the warehouse. So, you’ll be unloading containers. Making sure products are stored in the right place. And processing customer orders and sending them out safely and securely, so they arrive in the best condition.

You might be physically picking and packing boxes, or using material-handling equipment such as a reach truck. But you’ll always keep an eye out for shortages, products in the wrong place and damaged goods. And you’ll report any issues. What’s more, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to grow your career and move up into team leadership.

Team Leader

You’ll be leading a warehouse team. So, it’s all about people management. Motivating them to meet their daily targets. Making sure they follow health and safety. And keeping them up-to-date with all the right skills. All while keeping an eye on productivity. That means you’ll need to be a calm presence under pressure.

With the character to inspire people’s trust. And the ability to build a strong team spirit, so they all pull together. At the same time, you’ll always be on the lookout for ways to improve how we do things. Putting forward ideas. And making suggestions on how to give our customers even better service.

Supervisor

You’ll be working closely with the Team Leaders to make sure targets are met and supporting them with managing their teams. You will use your expertise to coach and develop your team leaders to help them become more effective managers. You’ll also manage relationships with external suppliers to ensure we keep all warehouse equipment running smoothly, so we’re always ready to meet customer expectations.

Shift Manager

You’ll be leading full shifts in our warehouses. That means working closely with Supervisors and Team Leaders to make sure the shifts run smoothly and targets are met. You’ll plan the day-to-day operation of your shift to meet business needs. Working closely with the Warehouse Manager you will provide insight that will help the leadership plan and manage production schedules to reduce downtime.

Warehouse Manager

In a fast-moving business where needs are constantly changing, you’ll plan day-to-day operations in your warehouse to meet business needs. This involves working with your leadership team to manage production schedules and reduce downtime. Managing stock control and rolling stock checks. And monitoring staff levels, staff development and health and safety. In short, you’ll keep your warehouse running smoothly and efficiently.

You'll play a key role in the continuous improvement agenda and work closely with the broader business on projects. Your input will be vital to making our Warehouse operations more efficient and your insight will be invaluable in making the right strategic decisions.

What you can expect

You’ll also find a warehouse operation that offers Monday to Friday working, so you’ll have free weekends. And you’ll be part of a team who are all committed to delivering a great job for our customers, every time.
