QA Analyst (with good strong test automation experience) - Bristol

We are looking for a dedicated and efficient QA Analyst with test automation experience to join a team of multi-skilled digital professionals.  Our ideal candidate has previous experience of Agile, SCRUM or DevOps experience and strong understanding of TDD, BDD or XP methodologies with a determined approach to chasing down defects, delivering quality products and an excellent user experience.

Reporting to our QA Digital Lead, you will collaborate with the broader development team including our external Systems Integrator as an incorporated unit providing manual and automation testing within an Agile SCRUM environment and look to drive high standards for all deliveries, cultivating an environment of quality and encouraging others to consider it at all stages.

You will be responsible for maintaining and exceeding high standards when detecting defects and errors, and effectively managing any defects you may find, communicating them to your teammates and working hard to resolve them.  Good strong experience in exploratory testing and the ability to use known test techniques to reduce the number of tests whilst not limiting coverage is essential.

Regression testing will also form part of the role, and you will be able to inform and shape how this is approached and how it may be automated.  You will need good sound understanding of test automation, not only in test tools but also have understanding on when to use automation.

This QA Analyst role will be focused primarily across our Ecommerce platform and its functionality, but it may collaborate across the business with relevant stakeholders.  You will work with the technical leadership team to focus on quality, problem prevention instead of detection, and ensure testing occurs earlier than ever before. Any experience of static testing and its techniques would be advantageous.

As this is a new team that you will be joining, you will get the opportunity to help shape the test strategy alongside the test lead, so being able to demonstrate up to date testing knowledge or membership of meetups etc is an advantage.

  • Proactive and collaborative approach to working with colleagues and clients
  • Understand the big picture and how your work fits into it
  • Exemplary communication, listening and negotiating skills
  • Inquisitive or knowledgeable about automated testing and willing to broaden your testing skill-set with the latest automation technologies
  • Experienced in working in an Agile environment
  • Experience of automation
  • Experienced in web testing
  • Self-motivating / self-managing / able to work autonomously
  • Strong task orientation (“getting things done”)
  • Most importantly, we want you to have a passion for a quality delivery

Your experience will include:

  • Previous experience with Agile delivery – SCRUM and DevOps
  • ISEB, ISTQB qualification or suitable alternative
  • Exposure of, but not limited to, Selenium and Gherkin
  • Familiarity with modern testing techniques such as BDD, TDD and XP
  • Familiarity or a strong desire to learn automated testing tools
  • Detailed knowledge of the software development life cycle
  • Demonstrable experience working in an agile environment
  • Working knowledge of the following (nice to have): Jira, Hybris, Cucumber, FitNesse, Selenium, SpecFlow, Quicktest Pro.
