About the role

We have a brand new vacancy that has been created for a Portfolio Buyer to join us. Our Products are at the heart of our business.  One of the pillars of our success as an organisation is the quality, reliability and variety of the products that we sell; offering solutions to suit the needs and budgets of all of our customers.  The Buying and commercial department help us continue to lead the market by ensuring we consistently bring new products and new opportunities to our customers quickly.  We care about our customers, we listen to our customers and we make sure that every decision we make about new or existing products has our customers’ best interests at heart. 

Within this position, you will be the point of contact for our Portfolio Internal and Field Sales Teams where you'll pick up knowledge of what our Key/National Accounts are looking for and understanding market trends amongst our customers. Previous experience with a similar product range would be helpful but is not essential.  More importantly you will have strong skills as a Buyer with developed supplier relationship management skills. You will be commercial with strong business acumen and experience of working with consumer focused products. 

About you

As a Buyer, your main responsibilities will be;

  • You'll identify profitable products to suit our portfolio customer's bespoke needs
  • You will be able to build and develop relationships with local and global suppliers, whilst monitoring ongoing performances
  • You will be negotiating and maintaining supplier agreements to minimise potential liabilities whilst maximising supplier performance
  • You'll analyse competitor activity in relation to product ranges, brand development, presentation to market and pricing structures
  • You'll be able to identify new supply sources, approve new supply sources in line with agreed onboarding process and mange out suppliers whose performances do not improve in line with agreed supplier metrics. 
  • You'll be innovative and look to continuous improve opportunities within Buying/Purchasing and within overall category
